Family and friends gathered from far and wide to celebrate with the former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security, Gilbert Scott, his 70th birthday on Saturday, September 4, at the Jamaica Defence Force Officers' Club.

Among those in attendance were his son Lance and grandson Jaren from Seattle, Washington; his two sisters - Veda Dyett and Reverend Sonia Miller from London, England; the 'party posse' from Florida; former ministers of national security Dr Peter Phillips, Col Trevor MacMillan and wife Dr Olivia McDonald, Derrick Smith and wife Carlene, Chief of Defence Staff Major General Stewart Saunders surrounded by his senior officers Brigadier Antony Anderson, Capt Sydney Innis and wife Jackie; and Capt George Reynolds and wife Michelle Wilson-Reynolds.

Also in attendance were former Commissioner of Police Hardley Lewin and wife Tessa, Ambassador Madge Barrett and husband Tunti Barrett, businesswoman Marcia Forbes and husband Richard 'Pardy' Forbes, Tanny Shirley, chief executive officer of the Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA), Jennifer McDonald; Rosalyn Campbell, Frank and Joan Scully, Desmond and Phyllis Hall, Raymond and Jackie Donaldson and Dr Annmarie Barnes who flew in from Toronto for the occasion.

Guests were invited to wear their dancing shoes and they were well rewarded by non-stop party music from the '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s by popular DJs Richie Clarke and Cut-Eye.
