Outrageous lawlessness
The Editor, Sir:
It is Sunday , September 19. I am laying in bed at one of the hotels in Negril, Jamaica. It boggles the mind that at 5.00 in the morning, someone has chosen to turn up a sound system so loud that it is impossible to sleep.
This is in a public area on the beach where the hotels, Couples, Breezes, Riu, Sunset at the Palms etc. are situated. A simple, mindless, selfish act like this could change the minds of hundreds of vacationers from ever returning to this island again, and all because of one or two persons.
My obvious question is simply this: Is there no law (Noise Abatement Act) that prohibits this kind of outrageous behaviour? Of course there will be a few, who will make an issue out of this. It goes to show the lawlessness that continues to engulf this country. Any reasonable, sane person can see that something is wrong with this picture.
I am, etc.,
