ONLINE FEEDBACK

Below are edited excerpts from comments posted by online readers reacting to yesterday's lead story 'Olint Boss guilty'.

  • Lessons from the saga

The Turks and Caicos Island government has stepped up and did what they had to do and now David Smith is looking at time in the pokey.

There are three main morals to this saga: 1) Invest with your head and not your heart; 2) If some investment scheme sounds too good to be true, then it likely is and should be avoided; 3) People should not be taking advice from clergy folk on investment matters. Speak with a certified chartered/licensed financial representative to find out how to get your money to work for you now that you've worked so hard for it.

  • Unfair criticisms of Christianity

This has nothing to do with Christianity. It has all to do with whether or not one prefers to do what is considered risky financial dealing. If Olint had been successful, as it had been for some people in the beginning, there would have been maximum praise for Mr Smith. He would certainty be called a great man and a wonderful Christian. Now that he is in jail, Christianity has become the scapegoat. That is unfair.

  • What about the others?

Now that David Smith is being dealt with, what about the principals of other schemes linked to Olint ? And how are investors in these schemes to proceed and get at least partial recovery of their funds? Can someone speak up on this?
