Compact changes ownership

Norbrook Capital Management LLC, which earlier this year acquired local Internet shopping firm MailPac Services, has now added Compact car rental company to principal Khary Robinson's acquisitions.
Robinson who is travelling in Africa, confirmed the deal Thursday, but said in a phone call from Ghana that he would not comment on the details until his return to Jamaica next week.
Adrien Lemaire, the car rental company's general manager was out of office, but a representative of Compact said the business has been a division of Norbrook Capital since April.
Compact has been in operation since 1981, and targets corporations, embassies, as well as government projects. The company also offers wedding transportation and chauffeuring services.
The most recent Companies Office documents, updated April 1987, named Metry, Madge and Julie-Ann Seaga as owners of Compact.
Robinson's other investment exploits includes International Data Processors, an outsourcing firm focused on providing office solutions for the financial services industry and ValuCard, a privately owned card-processing network for debit, credit and stored value cards.
Information found online, describes Norbrook Capital as "focused on building a unique group of businesses in the Caribbean, by leveraging an experienced investment team, a deep knowledge of the regional market, distinctive positioning with key public and private-sector entities, and operational expertise".
Norbrook also launched Student Card Limited, a prepaid student card service in six schools - Ardenne, Campion, AISK, St Andrews, Mona Prep and Jamaica College - in March 2009, which has eliminated the need for cash transactions on these school campuses.
MailPac Services Limited, which lays claim to a client base of more than 10,000 and operates out of Montego Bay, St Andrew and Ocho Rios, offers mail and packaging services to Jamaicans who wish to purchase items from stores overseas via the Internet.
The service facilitates Internet shopping by providing its members a United States address, as many US companies will only ship orders domestically.
