Baby's body found in gully

The Denham Town police are treating as murder the death of an unidentified male baby, believed to be about three months old, whose body was found in a gully at the Mother White Bridge on Spanish Town Road in Kingston on Saturday.

According to reports from the Denham Town police, the body was discovered in the gully about 7:10 a.m.

"An immediate post-mortem was ordered, the results of which indicate that foul play might have been at work in the infant's death," stated a release from the Constabulary Communication Network. "It also revealed that the child might have been sexually assaulted."

BSI launches probe

The Bureau of Special Investigations (BSI) has launched an investigation into an incident in which a man was fatally shot by the police at Callaloo Mews, Kingston 20, yesterday.

A release from the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) stated that the identity of the dead man had not yet been ascertained.

"More details will be made available as the investigation progresses," the CCN said.

DPP to rule on Trafigura

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions is expected to make a ruling this week regarding irregularities in the 2006 multimillion-dollar transaction between Dutch company Trafigura Beheer and the then ruling People's National Party (PNP).

Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn told The Gleaner yesterday that her office would also be ruling on recommendations by the Office of the Contractor General that the man at the helm of the entire Trafigura affair - former Information Minister and PNP General Secretary Colin Campbell - be charged for obstructing and hindering its probe into the matter.
