Roads closed to facilitate Colombian president
The police have advised that due to the state visit to Jamaica by the president of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos Calderón, several roads will be closed and traffic diverted starting at 8 o'clock this morning.
This is to facilitate the staging of a wreath-laying event at the statue of Simon Bolivar at National Heroes Circle.
The roads to be closed are:
1. Marescaux Road at the junction of North Heroes Circle will be closed to vehicular traffic. Traffic travelling south along Marescaux Road from the direction of Cross Roads will be diverted to West Heroes Circle.
2. South Heroes Circle at East Queen Street will be closed to vehicular traffic. Traffic travelling along Duke Street will be diverted left towards West Heroes Circle and traffic travelling from West Heroes Circle intended for East Heroes Circle will be diverted on East Street.
3. Central Road in the vicinity of the Constabulary Force Band Division will be closed to vehicular traffic. Traffic will be diverted to use East Street or North Street.
All minor roads that intersect Heroes Circle between North Heroes Circle and East Heroes Circle will be barred and closed to vehicular traffic.
Employees of the various ministries in the immediate vicinity will be given access.
