Cop rescues boy from angry mother

An off-duty policeman came to the rescue of a boy, who appeared to be no more than eight years old. The child was observed being punished by his mother Wednesday afternoon on Sutton Street in downtown Kingston.

The woman, 30-year-old Keisha Taylor, a vendor of a Duke Street address, was spotted slamming her son's face into the wall of a building by her stall. District Constable Troy Lewis, who happened to be walking by, had to restrain the woman.

A Gleaner news team en route to an assignment came upon the incident, which took place in full view of several persons observing the cop's attempt to restrain the angry woman.

DC Lewis who had earlier cautioned Taylor with arrest for assault advised her to seek counselling, to which Taylor agreed.
