National Commercial Bank of Jamaica was the top company this year at the Jamaica Stock Exchange 2009 Best Practices Awards with three wins, including the big one of the Governor General's Award, and other runner-up prizes. The Jamaica Stock Ex-change hosted its annual Best Practices Awards on December 8 in recognition of stock market companies that excelled in various categories in 2009. The winners were:

National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited: Best Annual Report; Corporate Disclosure and Investor Relations; PSOJ/JSE Corporate Governance award; Governor General's Award.

• Pan Caribbean Financial Services: Corporate Disclosure and Investor Relations; Investor Relations(Stockbrokerage).

First Jamaica Investments: Best-performing Company.

Barita Investments Limited: Investor Relations (Stockbrokerage).

Trinidad Cement Limited: Best Website - Listed Company.

NCB Capital Markets Limited: Best Website - Brokerage.

The awards had tied winners in four categories, which, according to awards chairman, Professor Neville Ying, is a record, and shows companies are serious about ensuring that their companies meet and exceed international standards.
