Port Antonio, Portland

The Portland police have identified the dead man from a Boxing Day motor vehicle accident at Bryan's Bay in the parish as 23-year-old Karan Latouche of a Non-Such district address.

The other people involved in the accident are 26-year-old Shaun Bishop, 21-year-old Joral Trail, 24-year-old Tristan Thomas, and 38-year-old Clement Johnson.

Bishop and Trail are of a Non-Such address, while Thomas is from Norwich and Johnson hails from Snow Hill.

Bishop was airlifted by helicopter to the Kingston Public Hospital Sunday night after his condition reportedly worsened.

Afternoon accident

The accident took place shortly before 3 p.m. when a Toyota Tacoma with the five aboard ran off the road at Bryan's Bay and knocked down a bus-stop sign before slamming into a utility pole.

The occupants were rushed to hospital in Port Antonio, but Latouche died while undergoing treatment. The other four were admitted in critical condition.

Sergeant Dwayne Campbell of the Port Antonio traffic department is sounding a warning to motorists for them to observe the prescribed speed limit in the various zones. He also cautioned motorists to be extra careful, especially when driving along the roadway during this festive season.
