Ashtrom lands J$1.2b contract
Ashtrom Building Systems Limited, an Israeli-owned construction company, has landed a J$1.2-billion contract from the National Housing Trust (NHT) to construct houses in Hellshire, St Catherine.
The new job represents the fourth phase of the development.
The deal has passed the scrutiny of the National Contracts Commission but still requires Cabinet's ratification.
NHT's website describe the project as a complex of 226 homes and housing lots on which construction is scheduled to start in January. It was unclear whether the timelines are unchanged as NHT, up to press time, had not responded to queries on the project.
Phase Two of the same Hellshire project, accounting for 136 units, is not expected to go to construction until next September, while Phase Three, 123 units, is scheduled to kick off in April.
Ashtrom is based in Twickenham Park, St Catherine.
