Where to ring in the new year

When the new year arrives, some people will be ringing it in at locations like Family Church on the Rock in St Andrew or Fellowship Tabernacle, while others will be partying the night away.

Though watchnight service has always been a favourite for those who prefer to start the new year on a holy note, individuals often follow up with one of the many parties held each year across the island.

On New Year's Eve, there will be Digicel Destination Moon 3D, which will be held at the lush Hope Botanic Gardens in St Andrew.

It promises to have top shelf liquor, delectable food and good music, which will be provided by Arif Cooper, Richie D and Delano of Renaissance.

Moving from Temple Hall Estate, Red Stripe Bold Absinthe, HD Elevation has found another home at the Palisadoes Go-Kart Track. Based on previous stagings, it is likely to be a hit.

Something intimate

Another staple for New Year's Eve is French Connection, which will be held at Fort Charles in Port Royal. But if you are looking for something more intimate, A Private Moment with Beres at Caymanas Golf Club, St Catherine, is also a good choice.

Clubs like The New Quad and Club Privilege in New Kingston will also be hosting New Year's Eve parties as well.

But if you are on a very tight budget, there is also entertainment for you at Fireworks on the Waterfront in downtown Kingston. In addition to the beautiful fireworks, patrons will be treated to performances from artistes like Etana, Richie Loops, Queen Ifrica, John Holt and others.

Stepping outside of the Corporate Area, people will also be partying up a storm at Shock Wave Nightclub, Mandeville. There will also be Deja Vu, Destination Dubai, at Ruins At The Falls in Ocho Rios, St Ann, and The Annual Miami Link-up at Turtle River Park in the same parish. In St Elizabeth, there will be New Year's Eve fifth Annual Champagne Splash at Peace Club, Braes River.

On the western end of the island, there is Ultra Violet which will be held at Negril Escape. Patrons can also line up to attend Epic at BlueBeat in Montego Bay, St James.

On New Year's Day, people will get the opportunity to have a gospel-filled evening at Genesis which will take place at Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, Hope Road, St Andrew. The following day, Tarrus Riley and Dean Fraser Band will be in concert at Studio 38, Trafalgar Road, New Kingston.
