Godly revelation increases tourism and prosperity
Apostle Steve Lyston, Contributor
Much attention is being given to Jamaican tourism once again! But without the right strategies and tools, tourism will fail.
Godly revelation is the only way to ensure longevity and prosperity in this area. Revelation is not to be interpreted as mystical wisdom concerning practical workable principles. It is, in fact, a clear perception and applicable understanding given by the Holy Spirit to deal with a particular situation.
Hence, we must develop our tourism package beyond the external customers. Our first customers are internal. Once they are satisfied, then they can serve to enhance the service to external customers. Additionally, there are many factors which can affect tourism moving forward. They are as follows: increase in oil prices, global warming, crime and marine issues, all of which will cause a decrease in international travel and subsequently the demand for tourist services.
There are deep and secret things that those in the scientific and political/economic arenas are not yet aware of that God wants to reveal. (Daniel 2: 22 & Revelation 22). God will reveal it if they seek Him. There are herbs and other vegetation in the nation that can be used medicinally and the nation can, through that, become a hub for seekers of good health worldwide.
Jamaica wants to create a financial hub but it will not successfully come through stocks, bonds and other investment tools. We cannot afford to build tourism on immorality and gambling; that is like building on sand!
Building it through Godly revelation will bring people to the country who are seeking what this nation truly has to offer and that will increase tourism and finance for the nation.
Proverbs 29: 18 and II Chronicles 3: 32 remind us that a lack of revelation will cause people to perish.
Revelation from God does not come through the regular educational system - no scholastic institution can teach it.
It is not 'arrived at' in a board meeting but God can release a revelation.
Solutions
Tourism has to be extended beyond all-inclusive hotels. It has to filter into the deep rural communities so that all will benefit and not just a few elite who have a stranglehold on the reigns!
A second language must be included in the training of our police force. They must also understand local and international culture and be more than familiar with the history of our nation. Such police personnel would be paid higher and wear a modified uniform.
Our mountains, rivers and other natural parks should be made available for camping and hiking. Further to this, more cottages need to be built so that our tourists will be able to enjoy outdoor cooking, the culture and the natural assets of Jamaica. Such areas can also attract the international movie industries.
Get the church involved so that the tourists can attend and feel the presence of the spirit of the Lord in our nation.
The local attractions such as the pantomime and other theatrical and musical programmes, must be promoted through the tourism vein so that they can be enjoyed by our visitors!
Renovate and revamp Hope Gardens, build a hotel with indoor and outdoor shopping mall as well as a sports centre nearby; integrate the Papine Market and this will be a major tourist attraction for the Corporate Area. The Gardens can also be promoted as an ideal place for weddings as well.
Use Vale Royal as an historical tourist attraction and pay all future prime ministers a housing allowance.
Increase student exchange programmes at all levels. This will increase tourism as well.
Make the learning of a second language mandatory in secondary level institutions.
It's time to adopt something new so that the nation can move forward. It's time for a new beginning!
