Deputy Prime Minister Dr Kenneth Baugh left for Geneva, Switzerland, on Friday for the World Trade Organisation's (WTO) Trade Policy Review scheduled for next week.

The two-day review, starting tomorrow, will be Jamaica's third review in 16 years, since the implementation of the WTO's trade policy review mechanism. The last one took place in 2005.

Baugh is expected to share Jamaica's experiences with the multilateral trading system, as well as highlight issues as they relate to the country's compliance with WTO agreements.

He will also make it known that Jamaica is committed to the multilateral trading system, while keeping in line with rules and regulations.

Regarding the Doha Development Round of negotiations, Baugh is expected to air concerns.

"We will continue to emphasise that this round of negotiations, though protracted, was initially intended to benefit developing countries like Jamaica and enable their greater participation in the multilateral trading system," Baugh said.
