Clansman cut down in Spanish Town

A senior member of the Spanish Town-based Clansman gang was murdered in a daring mid-afternoon attack in the St Catherine capital yesterday.

The St Catherine North police said Jermaine Morrison, otherwise called 'Speedy', was killed at approximately 1:30 p.m. by a lone gunman who shot him several times at the intersection of Burke and March Pen roads.

The police believe the shooting was sparked by a fierce internal feud in the Clansman gang, which also resulted in the killing of five persons in Portsmouth, Portmore, last Thursday night.

"Two other persons, a man and a woman, were also shot and injured in the incident in which Morrison was shot," stated a release from Karl Angell, director of communications at the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Following the murder of Morrison, investigators from the St Catherine North Division are listing two other Clansman members - Nevardo Hodges, otherwise called 'Dee Jay', and Rowell Jennings, also known as 'Jay Jay' - as persons of interest.

"These Clans members are considered armed and dangerous and should be approached with great caution," Angell said. "Both Hodges and Jennings frequent Hopeful Village, Lakes Pen, and Quarry Hill in the Spanish Town area of St Catherine."

Hodges and Jennings have been ordered to report to police personnel at the Spanish Town Police Station by 2 p.m. today.
