'Dog Paw' charged
The man who once headed the Jamaican police most-wanted list and who investigators had linked to several murders, Christopher 'Dog Paw' Linton, has been charged.
But the charges do not relate to any of the many murders which he had been accused of before he was collared.
Instead, the police yesterday announced that Dog Paw had been charged with shooting with intent and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition after he was questioned by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Branch.
When pressed, senior police officers told The Gleaner that the 24-year-old alleged leader of the Dog Paw Gang could face other charges when those investigations are done.
Dog Paw was held during a massive police-military operation in Elletson Flats, St Andrew, on January 24.
Before his arrest, the police had claimed he had led his gang on a reign of terror.
Among the allegations levelled against the accused gang leader and his cronies was last December's attack on residents of Bedward Gardens in St Andrew.
Diana Forbes, 31, her six-year-old son, Jahame McKay, and her common-law husband, Maris Hilton, 50, were shot dead during that incident.
