STUDENTS FROM Ascot High School in Portmore, St Catherine, cried openly yesterday after one of their schoolmates died tragically in a motor vehicle accident while another was seriously injured.

The driver of the vehicle, 69-year-old businessman Lloyd Reid of a Bridgeport address, also died in the accident.

Up to news time, the police had not released the name of the student who died.

Police reports are about 3 p.m., Reid was driving a Toyota Corolla along the toll road.

He lost control of the car at the intersection of George Lee Boulevard in the vicinity of the Victoria Mutual Building Society.

The vehicle rode the sidewalk and mowed down the two students.

"The girls were walking when the car run over them. The car pin one of the girl on to the fence and the next one on the ground," Martin Daley, a bystander, explained.
