POLICE COMMISSIONER Owen Ellington has ordered members of the force to ensure that breathalyser testing is done during all traffic operations.

According to Ellington, the mandatory utilisation of the breathalyser instruments in every instance where road-traffic breaches are detected is one of the ways to reduce road deaths.

"Therefore, with immediate effect, divisional officers must include in their roadblock and speed-check operations one person trained in the use of the breathalyser instrument to conduct breath analysis on drivers," Ellington said in the latest Force Orders.

"Testing must be done in all cases of motor-vehicle crashes and the test result included on the accident investigation files," Ellington added.
