WESTERN BUREAU:

Annmarie Robinson-Chin's stylish and chic designs, bearing the label Koko Beenz, melted hearts like chocolate in the mouth, but it was the eyes that feasted on the creativity that the designer unveiled at Bold Style Week last Sunday at the Grand Palladium, Hanover.

Chin's use of cotton voile, chiffon and linen fabrics beautifully complemented the eclectic Phoenix Vintage '83 collection by the show's organiser, attorney-at-law Vonique and engineer Doreen Mason.

The designers shared the spotlight with Terence Calvin's Father and Sons Envi; Anetta Mahoney's Kiss N' Don't Tell, Duss Till Daan's 'Star Boy', Tall and Short 'Resilience' and Lissant Fflokes' Lissant designs.

Held under the distinguished patronage of Lady Allen, wife of Governor General Sir Patrick Allen, the Mason sisters brought high fashion to the parish once dubbed 'Cinderella'.

And it is safe to say that Cinderella may have made her appearance last Sunday, but this time she wasn't dressed poorly, as the outstanding Koko Beenz, Phoenix Vintage '83 and Star Boy made sure she was dressed for the part.

Some 36 models and 120 pieces from eight fashion designers were on show in the first style week for Hanoverians.

And there were those who needed to return to their sewing machines and cutting boards and put on their thinking caps, but it was a commendable effort on the part of the Mason sisters.

Organiser Vonique Mason said she was encouraged by the response and the commitment from both the designers and the models, as Bold Faces started out as a community development project, which has grown to the point where it could have been launched in such a manner, with participation from talents from the parishes of Hanover, St James and Westmoreland.
