My 21-day detox experience
Dear Sharon,
I am writing because I need help to change my eating habit mainly because my blood pressure is a little high and my doctor said I need to lose weight. I am working on it now. I am eating meat once a day and more fruits and vegetables in the daytime, and drinking more water as well. I also removed sugar from my diet. I have been doing this for three days only so far. If you could give me some pointers, I would greatly appreciate it.

Dear Reader:
Please re-read my article and just follow the detox strictly for 21 days to 'reset' your body and eating habits. I promise, you will feel younger, lighter and full of good health!

Dear Sharon,
I read with interest your article in The Gleaner's Health Section of February 23 about detoxing. I found it very useful and I'm planning to use it for weight loss and really to feel better. Can you tell me how to make smoothies without using dairy. Is it okay to use soy milk instead? Looking forward to hearing from you.
- Thelma
Dear Thelma,
I use almond or rice milk in my smoothies. It makes it rich and creamy without the dairy. I prefer this to soy as soy can have an adverse effect on your thyroid function. My favourite smoothie is almond milk, pawpaw, pineapple, a teaspoon of vanilla with a dash of ginger and agave syrup. Thanks so much for your response and enjoy your smoothies!
