Save a life, donate blood

THE ROTARACT Club of St Andrew will host its annual blood and can drive in partnership with the Jason Hayles Foundation today. The drive will take place at the National Chest Hospital, Barbican Road, Kingston 5.

This year will be the third time that the club is hosting a drive to benefit individuals that are faced with unfortunate circumstances.

"Our goal for this year is collecting 50 pints of blood, so we are calling on everyone to join us," said Ammesha Samuels, club director. "We saw the need and thought it critical to offer assistance.

The event begins at 8 a.m., and ends at 4 p.m.

Donors should be between the ages of 18-60 (65 for frequent donor). "They must have a balanced breakfast the morning of donation. Try to include leaf-like vegetables like callaloo, or eat liver or kidney to help boost your blood count," Samuels said.
