Lady Patricia Allen, wife of Governor General Sir Patrick Allen, has urged 4-H Clubs members from schools in St Andrew to use the skills and expertise they are acquiring from the organisation for the greater good of the country.
Speaking at the recent 4-H parish Achievement Day at the Mona High School in St Andrew, Lady Allen commended the Jamaica 4-H Clubs for being one of the leading institutions, involved in youth development and leadership training across the island.
"By involving young people in activities such as agriculture, skills training and entrepreneurial programmes, the club has been instrumental in positively influencing and shaping the lives of the young people between the ages of 9 and 25 years," she said.
Lady Allen added that the focus on that age group is important, as it is the time when persons are faced with a number of challenges.
"As a nation we must ensure that our young people are motivated and inspired to believe in themselves where they can develop a burning desire to succeed against all odds," she advised.
