THE ANNOUNCEMENT by invigilators that all pencils should be placed on the desk was the cue that students at the Jessie Ripoll Primary School needed to break out into a thunderous uproar.

What was an apparent premature outburst was quickly put to silence by the persons in charge.

However, the moment finally came for students to leave the exam centres, and at this point, no one was able to control the children as they jumped for joy, clapped, and hugged each other.

"I am elated! I know I am going to get good grades because it wasn't hard," said Abigaye Jackson, one of the students at the school.

"I am going home to have a good time and watch television and play computer games all evening," she added.

The experience was similar at Excelsior Primary School where students were in a cheerful mood.

"I know I scored high 90s because I studied hard and I did my best, which I think will be good enough," said Shanille Miller, a future journalist who said she is on her way to Ardenne High School.

Rajay Ringrose of Dunrobin Primary expressed relief that the exams were over.

"I studied hard and I think I did well on the examination," the student said before pointing out that he would be going to Calabar High.
