OFF-DUTY members of the police force attending today's final day of the ISSA Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships are being warned that they should leave their firearms at home.

In the Force Orders issued yesterday, the Police High Command noted that off-duty cops attending events at the National Stadium and Sabina Park have been carrying firearms into these facilities. The High Command said some members of the force have refused to cooperate with security personnel when told they should not enter with weapons.

"The security operational protocol governing the staging of such events requires that such facilities be kept sterile in respect of firearms, offensive weapons, and other prohibited items," the High Command noted.

According to the High Command, off-duty police, personnel who insist on taking their guns into these sporting events will face strong disciplinary action.
