PORT MARIA, St Mary:

RESIDENTS OF St Mary are set to benefit from a series of screening and health information, as the North East Regional Health Authority last Friday launched Health Month.

The month is being observed under the theme: 'Be alert, disease prevention needs your attention'.

calendar event

Health Month has been a calendar event for the past six years. Various activities are scheduled for the four health districts in the parish; these include presentations on cholera, ackee poisoning and service delivery.

Women At Real Risk from the United States of America, which specialises in cancer screening and treatment, will be visiting Windsor Castle, Islington, and Clonmel health centres in St Mary to conduct cancer screening and mammograms. A health fair will also be held in the Gayle health district.

Parish manager, Dr Isaac Brown, encouraged individuals to make use of the primary health-care facilities.

Health Month will culminate with a staff fun day at Westmoreland Oval, Annotto Bay, on April 29.
