Abrahams quits Lascelles board
Jason Abrahams quit the board of directors of Lascelles deMercado and Company Limited, effective March 31, days before the annual general meeting held this week. "Mr Abrahams has indicated that his resignation is due to his perception that he is unable to influence strategy in the current course of the company in a meaningful way," Lascelles said in a stock market filing.
Abrahams also resigned as a member of the audit committee.
Spirits conglomerate Lascelles is now controlled by the government of Trinidad and Tobago, which came into possession of the company when it rescued Lascelles' ultimate parent, CL Financial Group, in January 2009.
Abrahams' resignation from the board was announced days after group managing director William McConnell and his head of finances John Bell said they be retiring, effective June 30.
Chin promoted, Johnson resigns
Jacqueline Johnson, who was chief financial officer for affiliated companies Lasco Distributors Limited and Lasco Manufacturing Limited, has resigned, and her position made redundant. Financial and accounting responsibilities now falls to Paul Darby, the financial accountant at Lasco Manufacturing, and to Cecelia Lewis, financial accountant at Lasco Distributors.
Johnson's other position as general manager of the pharmaceuticals division at Lasco Distributors has also been made redundant.
Lasco Distributors also announced this week that Peter Chin has been promoted to the position of general manager of Lasco Consumer Division, responsible for the sales department, while maintaining his portfolio for new product development, marketing strategies and tactics at both Lasco Distributors and Lasco Manufacturing.
