The Bank of Nova Scotia Jamaica has announced that one of its senior executives has been transferred to the Barbados office, while another has retired.

Maya Johnston, former senior vice-president with responsibility for non-branch sales and service, was transferred to Barbados on March 11, and Suzette McLeod, senior vice-president for business support, retired effective April 1.

Johnston has been appointed centre director at the Scotia Private Client Group in Barbados.

At Scotiabank Jamaica, she was tasked with developing and managing sales and commercial partnerships outside of the traditional branch network.

She provided oversight for self-service channels offered to customers and was tasked with maintaining a customer-centric culture across the bank.

Johnston joined the bank in 2007, prior to which she held senior management and executive positions in the media and telecommunications industries.

In her role at the Barbados office, Johnston is responsible for developing and driving the business strategies aimed at increasing the revenue and profitability of the Scotia Private Client Group throughout Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean and St Maarten.

Her duties in Jamaica has been split among senior managers.

McLeod, who was appointed senior vice-president for business support in November 2009, had oversight responsibility for facilities management, security, administration, and the legal and compliance department.

At the time of her retirement, the bank announced that it has made several changes to the portfolio over which she had oversight.

Effective April 1, the bank said, real estate, facilities management and security and investigations would report to shared services division under the leadership of Rosemarie Pilliner, executive vice-president, North Caribbean.

Group compliance, legal, corporate and oversight of the systems support centre would report to Jacqueline Sharp, senior vice-president, chief financial officer and chief administrative officer.
