Whose farmers' market? Ministry says not endorsed by them today

THE MINISTRY of Agriculture and Fisheries has distanced itself from today's farmers' market being held in Portmore, St Catherine.
Agriculture Minister Dr Christopher Tufton told The Gleaner that based on radio advertisements announcing that the "Portmore farmers' market is back", members of the public had been misled into thinking that it was the ministry's initiative. He said the ministry had not given its stamp of approval for today's exercise, even though it used the location on at least two occasions.
The next round of the agriculture ministry/RADA farmers' market will return to Portmore on Wednesday, April 20. The market will also be staged on the same day in St Andrew, Manchester, St James, Westmoreland, and Portland.
