Donovan White ... left his job at Digicel to pursue other interests.

Digicel Jamaica is in the market for a new head of marketing following the departure of Donovan White, who held the job for two years.

White announced his resignation via an email to friends and colleagues, saying he was leaving "to pursue some personal interests".

He is now said to be on holiday off the island and was unreachable. Digicel said White's tenure ends officially in July.

According to reports out of the mobile giant's camp, the hunt is on both internally and externally for the new head of marketing, which now has Aileen Corrigan, group head of brand and marketing communications, assuming the responsibilities until a replacement is identified.

Digicel said Corrigan has been working with White "to ensure a smooth handover".

White has worked with Digicel Group since 2006 when he was recruited from CVM Communications Group. He was the TV station's sales and marketing manager at the time. His first job with Digicel was marketing manager for St Kitts-Nevis and Anguilla, where he also acted as country manager.

In July 2007, he became head of marketing for Digicel OECS North - encompassing markets in St Kitts-Nevis, Antigua-Barbuda, and Anguilla - and was later deployed to Guyana to serve in a similar position. He landed the Jamaican position in 2009, the company's most lucrative market and the base of the Digicel Group.

In this capacity, he was responsible for marketing the Digicel brand as well as the execution of public relations, sponsorships, marketing communications, promotions, and advertising strategies. He was on-board for the launch of the company's 4G WiMAX service.
