PRIME MINISTER Bruce Golding says the country has emerged from more than three years of recession.
Following 14 consecutive quarters of decline, the economy recorded modest growth in the January-March quarter.
"I am happy that I am able to confirm that Jamaica is now officially out of the recession, as in the January-March quarter the economy registered modest but positive growth of one per cent," the prime minister reported.
Golding said a detailed analysis of the out-turn and projection for the future would be presented by the Planning Institute of Jamaica at a press briefing on May 18.
