WESTERN BUREAU:
Her father, Eugene Ffolkes, designed the People's National Party's 'Rising Sun' emblem at age 16. Some 50 years later, attorney-at-law Sharon Ffolkes Abrahams is making history by representing the same party in West Central St James.
Two weeks ago, at an event tagged 'An Evening of Hope', the 'People's' aspirant sought to introduce herself to a select group of Montegonians at a poolside soirée held at her family-owned Racquet Club housing complex in Montego Bay.
Ffolkes Abrahams has been described as a "feminine pulpitude" by her cousin, Dr Winston Davidson, who played the role of emcee for the evening.
"More women need to give leadership to this party at every level, it is not enough that women should only be workers," said Davidson, as he lauded Ffolkes-Abrahams for being among the backbone of this country.
Those who travelled wide and far to offer their support to Ffolkes Abrahams included PNP Chairman Robert Pickersgill; Peter Bunting, general secretary; Michael Troupe, councillor of the Granville division of St James; and Wentworth Skeffery, among others.
