The rebirth of Darling Street Police Station

Published:Tuesday | May 17, 2011 | 12:00 AM

While residents of Hannah Town continue to appeal for the repair and reopening of the police station in their community, it is a different story for persons in the heart of downtown Kingston who now have access to a spanking new police facility.

The Darling Street Police Station, which was partially damaged by thugs supporting Christopher 'Dudus' Coke one year ago, was recently reopened after a multimillion-dollar government/ private sector partnership.

The station now boasts a beautifully tiled reception area, several steps up from the plain old concrete that previously existed.

A police personnel at the station recently told The Gleaner that the new clean facility makes policing in the tough downtown neighbourhood a little easier for the men and women.
