Flow launches its 'Triple Play Service' in St Ann

OCHO RIOS, St. Ann:

PROFESSOR ROSALEA Hamilton, president of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Alliance, has described Flow's roll-out of services in St Ann as "another indication of the company's leading role in changing Jamaica's telecommunications landscape.

The MSME Alliance president was guest speaker at Flow's champagne breakfast meeting held last week Friday at Sunset Jamaica Grande hotel, Ocho Rios, where the company officially launched its 'Triple Play Service', which offers digital cable TV, digital landline and 100 Mbps Internet service to residents.

Hamilton, who is also vice-president for development at the University of Technology, Jamaica, noted that at the heart of any strategy for global competitiveness there must be a dynamic information and communications technology (ICT) sector. She said, "The significance of the ICT sector lies in the fact that it is not only a sector in its own right, but it is also an enabler of all other sectors, including economic, social environmental and governmental sectors".

Shahine Robinson, member of parliament for North East St Ann, welcomed Flow's entry into her constituency, noting that the company was helping Jamaica to "bridge the digital divide" that is essential for a developing country such as Jamaica to access knowledge that can be used to improve the country's economic situation.

The announcement of Flow's new services to Ocho Rios was made by the company's president and chief operating officer, Michele English. She noted that the company had already invested more than $1 billion in building the required infrastructure for bringing state of-the-art digitally converged technology to Ocho Rios.
