Police, civilian appear in Lewis case

WESTERN BUREAU:

Two police officers and a civilian took the stand in the Westmoreland Circuit Court yesterday to provide evidence in the carnal abuse trial against international televangelist Dr Paul Lewis.

The embattled clergyman is facing up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the charges brought against him some two years ago.

Justice Leighton Pusey is presiding over the trial that began last Thursday and was expected to end tomorrow.

Lewis' bail of $300,000 was revoked at the beginning of the trial, and he remains in custody.

Exam students should go to closest centre

Students today sitting Caribbean Examinations Council, General Certificate of Education, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and other professional examinations who are experiencing major problems in reaching their assigned centres should go to the nearest centre, where they will be accommodated.

The Overseas Examinations Commission (OEC) has asked that principals of accommodating schools advise the OEC of any difficulty that they may experience in assisting the displaced candidates.
