After being plagued with bad grades, failures and disappointments during her grade six journey, Shannon Flemming of St George's Girls' Primary and Infant School cried tears of joy after hearing that she was successful for Camperdown High School.

Maxine Flemming, Shannon's mother, told The Gleaner that she was always a top performer, but throughout grade six, she noticed that her daughter's grades were falling dramatically.

"Her grades just start drop. She all a get 30s and 40s, which wasn't the norm, and I was very distressed," Maxine lamented.

She said the teacher would chide her daughter severely and sometimes reprimanded her in front of the class, saying if she continued on the same path, she would not pass for a traditional high school. Maxine said her daughter would often come home crying as her test grades were way below what was required.

prayed fervently

The confident and supportive mother, however, said she never gave up. She said she fasted and prayed fervently for her daughter as she knew that something had gone wrong.

"Mi jus' put har before God, inno, cause mi know she affi pull through," she said.

Her prayers were answered. She said that yesterday morning, while listening to the results, she trembled nervously until her daughter's name was called. Shannon passed for Camperdown High School.

Saying Maxine was overjoyed would be an understatement. She said she was overwhelmed, and even though her daughter's first choice was Alpha Girls' School, she was still elated and gave all praises to God.

"Boy, mi caa explain. I'm overwhelmed. We are so happy and overjoyed right now, and God was really on the job," she declared.
