GOVERNMENT SENATOR Warren Newby opened the State of the Nation debate in the Upper House yesterday announcing an expansion in the Programme for Youth Entrepreneurship.

He told his colleagues in the Upper House that the Government had given a grant of J$20 million to the Jamaica Youth Business Trust to enable capitalisation.

"We are putting in place the relevant policy framework and are working assiduously with two international donor agencies to increase the pool of funds available for this initiative," Newby, who is the parliamentary secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, said.

Newby said partnerships had been established with the HEART Trust, the Scientific Research Council, and the Jamaica Business Development Centre for the development of incubator space for youth business.
