FALMOUTH, Trelawny:

USERS OF the Falmouth to Wakefield roadway in Trelawny, which was the scene of two roadblocks to protests against its poor condition, are to get a respite, as temporary patching is currently under way.

Thirteen million dollars is being spent on this patching, which is separate and apart from the larger resurfacing, which will be done under the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP), Senator Dennis Meadows, Jamaica Labour Party candidate for North Trelawny, revealed. He said the JDIP work will resurface the road and install drains where needed, as this is one of the greatest problems causing its deterioration.

Councillor for the Wakefield division, Jonathan Bartley, said the roadway is the third most used surface in the parish, with an estimated 30,000 people being impacted. He noted that the initial work was timely.
