Students of Obistan Kinder Prep School on Washington Boulevard in St Andrew were on Thursday hailed for their outstanding performance in this year's Grade Six Assessment Test (GSAT).

Speaking at the school's graduation exercise, Minister Ingrid Butterfield also praised the school's teachers and other staff for a job well done.

She urged the students to continue to strive for excellence as they get ready to begin their high-school education. Butterfield told them to "reach for the stars (and) hold on to the end".

The school's principal, Mrs Dorritta Hall, told her audience that the vast majority of those who sat GSAT this year would attend schools of their choice. She also thanked members of her team for their very hard work during the school year.

Various awards

Several graduates collected awards for excellence in various areas. However, two walked away with the most trophies: Chelsea Wright, who will attend Campion College, and Paz-Belle Brown, who will attend Immaculate High. Wright received the Rev Hugh Neil Trophy for Language Arts, the Sybil Hodgson Trophy for Mathematics and the Gail Foster Trophy for Excellence. Brown collected the Carmen Hart Trophy for Science, the Dr Dennis Campbell Trophy for Social Studies and the Carlene Murray Trophy for Outstanding Academic Performance.

Obistan Kinder Prep, a school run by the Church of the Open Bible, 12 Washington Boulevard in St Andrew, is now registering students for the new academic year which starts in September.
