MP wants more cops in South West Clarendon
MEMBER OF Parliament (MP) for South West Clarendon, Noel Arscott, has expressed concern about what he says is the recent increase in violent crimes in the constituency.
The MP is urging the deployment of more crime-fighting resources for the area.
According to Arscott, yesterday there were reports of gunfire in the York Town area of his constituency with two persons being shot and killed, and two injured.
The Constabulary Communication Network yesterday confirmed that two persons were killed in a shooting incident.
Following that incident, gunmen opened fire on a home in the Bullards Content area, a short distance from York Town, killing one person and injuring five others.
The house that was shot up was reportedly hosting a gathering of mourners, who had lost a loved one some two weeks ago.
The MP is calling on the Ministry of National Security to deploy more resources to the area to ease the tension.
"While grateful to the men and women of the police force who have served the area well, we ask that the police presence be increased as they work diligently to capture the criminals and restore peace to the area," Arscott said.
