Unhappy with the RGD
Two of the many letters of complaint about the poor service of the RGD carried by The Gleaner.
RGD, where's my birth certificate?
THE EDITOR, Sir:
If someone had told me that the Registrar General's Depart-ment (RGD) doesn't function as it should, I would have said it's not perfect, but it's close enough. This was until I needed a copy of my birth certificate.
Living here in the United States, I was thrilled to know that I could apply online. I received the confirmation number 0802-0242-2918 in order to have them ship it to my front door.
This proved to be just a fantasy because I am still waiting, weeks later. I hate to be on the list of people who have nothing but complaints about them, but they need to pull up their socks and deliver service to the Jamaican people.

Incompetent service from RGD
THE EDITOR, Sir:
There seems to be something fishy going on with the Registrar General's Department (RGD) personnel. You pay for a birth certificate and receive a receipt, then when you do not receive it and return to find out the reason why, only to be told you have to pay again. Why?
Then in another episode, the RGD made an error with the Christian name on a birth certificate, and after several months of going downtown, it finally admits its error and informs the applicant that it will take another four months before it is delivered, yet it was paid for through the online facility for delivery in a couple of days. Why, RGD?
