Residents of Rio Cobre Drive, Lauriston, in St Catherine woke up to the gruesome discovery of a skull believed to be that of slain teenager, Joeith Lynch.

Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Task Force said the skull, which had chop and gunshot wounds, was found in a gully about 100 metres from the scene of the murder.

"We believe that the skull is that of the slain girl. From information received we are almost certain of this. The police is still awaiting official identification, " Detective Sergeant Steadman Bailey said.

The discovery was made about 10:30 a.m. and the police quickly cordoned off the area searching for forensic evidence.

One head discovered a week ago was identified as that of Charmaine Rattray.

Rattray, 40, and Lynch, 19 years old, were killed at their home in Lauriston on Wednesday, July 20, by men who beheaded them.

Investigators are yet to find the head of a man who was killed and beheaded two days prior to Lynch and Rattary.
