WESTERN BUREAU:

Assistant Commissioner of Police Denver Frater is to make his exit from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) to begin early retirement after a 34-year stint in the organisation.

It is understood that the senior policeman's retirement is to facilitate a lucrative job offer from one of the island's major commercial institutions.

Frater yesterday confirmed his departure from the JCF but was reluctant to give any details on his future endeavours.

The veteran crime fighter currently has portfolio responsibility for the Area One Police Division, which comprises Trelawny, St James, Hanover and Westmoreland.

The senior police officer, who hails from Ulster Spring in Trelawny, enlisted in the JCF at age 17 and has served in the St James, St Catherine South, and Westmoreland police divisions.

Frater was promoted to the rank of assistant commissioner in 2006, while he was still a superintendent attached to Operation Kingfish.
