Bahamas signs tax agreements with Aruba, Guernsey
The Bahamas government says it has signed two tax information exchange agreements (TIEAs) with Guernsey, one of the Channel Islands group of British dependencies and the Dutch island of Aruba.
A government statement said that Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs T. Brent Symonette signed two TIEAs, bringing to 27 the number of such agreements Nassau has signed with other countries.
It said that both countries, as well as The Bahamas, are members of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information
"Aruba is the first Caribbean jurisdiction with which The Bahamas has signed a TIEA. The TIEA with Guernsey also marks the first time that The Bahamas will have an agreement with a crown dependency of the United Kingdom," the statement read.
It said, late last week a TIEA was signed between The Bahamas and the Republic of Korea.
