The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has suspended operations at its South Parade bus park while refurbishing work is being completed there.

Yesterday, workmen were busy carrying out work in South Parade while the refurbished North Parade facility accommodated the buses.

According to the JUTC, the relocated operations include all the Portmore and Spanish Town-related routes, which will all temporarily terminate or be embarked upon from North Parade.

"It is to be noted that the eastern (Rockfort depot) routes, which were originally operated from the North Parade bay, will continue to operate from nearby upper King Street until the South Parade refurbishing is finished," the JUTC said in a release.

"At that time, subject to any changes that may be made in the interim, both the North and South Parade bays will revert to normal operations," added the JUTC.

Sorry for inconvenience

The bus company also apologised for the inconvenience that has resulted from the rehabilitation work in the Parade area.

"The company urges further patience and understanding from the commuters on the basis that the inconvenience being experienced is as a result of a broad drive to improve the physical condition of the public transportation network in downtown Kingston," said the JUTC.
