Rotary Club marks milestone
The Rotary Club of St Andrew North marked its 25th anniversary with a thanksgiving service at St Stephen's United Church, Union Square, Cross Roads, recently.
"We're here today to celebrate the start of our Rotary year and to acknowledge God's goodness in our lives," said attorney-at-law Kameika Fullerton-DeLisser, president of the Rotary Club of St Andrew North.
Fullerton-DeLisser, who was installed in June of this year as the first female president of the St Andrew North club, said her major project was to assist in the development of the St Stephen's United Early Childhood Centre.
"We'll be outfitting the early-childhood centre with computers," said the club president.
Follow jesus' example
In delivering the homily, Elder William McLeod urged the congregation to follow Jesus' example when he healed the disabled man of 38 years at the pool of Bethesda.
"Enable those we meet at the proverbial pool of life to pick up their mats and walk," McLeod told the congregation.
"In doing your good works, don't let the non-belief of the beneficiary hinder your efforts," he said. "Do good without pre-conditions," he continued.
McLeod used the opportunity to laud members of the Rotary Club of St Andrew North for their commitment in assisting with the early-childhood centre and praised Rotary International for its sterling efforts to eliminate polio globally.
"Ensure that those we meet at the pool are ministered to regardless of race, creed and background," he continued.
The church service was followed by a brunch in Barbican.
