Chin honoured for contribution to business, agriculture sectors
FOUNDER OF the Juici Patties chain of restaurants, Jukie Gladstone Chin, felt it was a great honour to be named The Gleaner's Man of the Year in 2007.
Earning the award for the outstanding contribution he made to the local business and agriculture sectors, as well as his dedication to charitable deeds across Jamaica, Chin said, "I definitely felt honoured to have been considered in the first place, even if I wasn't chosen. Getting the award inspired me to continue making my contribution little by little. I really felt encouraged to continue doing what I'm doing."
Chin, who turned making patties at age 16 in his mother's kitchen in Rocky Point, Clarendon, into a 50-restaurant chain, stated, "In my opinion, of the awards out there, the Gleaner award is the more prestigious and more established."
Since its inception in 1979, The Gleaner's Honour Awards have been recognising the initiative, accomplishment and courage of individuals or organisations that have contributed significantly to improving Jamaica's quality of life, whether in Arts & Culture, Public Service, Sports, Education, Science & Technology, Health & Wellness, Entertainment, Voluntary Service or Business.
