Gassan Azan has applied to the Manchester Parish Council for approval to construct another MegaMart store in the parish capital, Mandeville.

While telephone calls to Azan went to voicemail, Dewaine Larmond, acting director of planning at the Manchester Parish Council, told Wednesday Business that the application was received a week ago.

"We have not gone through it in detail as yet but it has been passed to the roads and works division and we will be having a meeting next week with the technocrats," Larmond said.

MegaMart, a warehouse shopping club, has been in operation for just about 11 years. Mandeville will be its fourth outlet.

The operation which began in Portmore has expanded to Kingston and Montego Bay.

While details of the plans were not disclosed, Larmond said it is an extremely large development to be located in the Perth area of Mandeville.

Approval for such plans take about six to eight weeks, the council said.
