On Sunday, Shakti Mind Body Fitness ended its 2011 celebration of Yoga Week with the largest outdoor yoga session held in Jamaica, on the lawns of the Sunken Gardens at Hope Gardens. Sharon Feanny, owner of Shakti, taught a free yoga class to over hundreds of persons from all walks of life. After yoga, participants enjoyed a wide variety of healthy items from the different booths at the event.

Other Yoga Week events included a yoga class at the Office of the Prime Minister for members of staff and ministers, held by Shakti and InfoTech Caribbean (Jamaica) Limited. Information Minister Daryl Vaz, Junior Minister Andrew Gallimore and Permanent Secretary Oneika Miller, along with over 30 staff members, were in attendance.

Shakti also visited a host of corporate companies including Jamaica Money Market Brokers, National Commercial Bank, LIME, Pan Caribbean, Sagicor, Red Stripe and Scotiabank, leading employees in a complimentary "Shakti Rejuvenation Hour" - that included cool aromatherapy towels and other treats. Corporate yoga classes were as large as 65 persons per session.

On September 22, Shakti hosted Yoga & Music for Charity, at Red Bones Blues Café featuring live music by Sezi and Kai Wakeling, Jason Wharton, and L'Acadco Drummers. All proceeds from this event were donated to Mary's Child, a home for pregnant teens located in downtown Kingston.

For the general public, Shakti offered its regularly scheduled yoga classes for free from September 18-25.

Sponsors for the month's activities included: The Gleaner, Wisynco, Spanish Court Hotel, JMMB, Pan Caribbean Bank, Jamaican Teas Ltd, NCB Capital Markets, InfoTech Caribbean Jamaica, PRANA, Caribbean Yoga Conference, Afya Yoga Centre and Rainforest Seafoods.
