My breast cancer prevention list

Dear Eulalee,

Thanks for sharing your breast cancer list. After being an advocate of soya milk, I have recently stopped using it. Based on the conflicting findings I thought that was the safest thing to do. You have helped to reinforce my choice.

I love your articles. In my job, I do a lot of health promotion and it is good to see what others are saying, especially to an African-Caribbean audience.

Dear Eulalee,

I read your article last week. I gather vitamin D (sunshine) is also beneficial. Also green tea and guinea hen weed.

Hi Eulalee,

I read your article in last week's paper and I thought I would mention the following to you.

I have taken the decision not to consume any milk product derived from animals. Neither am I consuming any soy- based products. I now use only coconut milk. It is not easy to get the really good dried coconuts here in Canada, but I make-do. I blend one whole dried coconut every Saturday morning, bottle the milk, and guess what, it serves me for the entire week. Perhaps in one of your articles you could mention coconut milk as a good health alternative.

I recall years ago when I was a child, how coconut was promoted as being bad for our health - high cholesterol, etc. The demise of coconut led to the rise of soy-based products. Now that I have been exposed to new information, coconut is good for one's health.

Cheers!

Water quality is crucial to good health

Dear Eulalee,

I read your article in The Gleaner titled 'Water quality is crucial to good health'. I found your article very enlightening and a good source of information. As a fellow Jamaican who work as an environment health chemist for a municipality in South Florida in the water department, and a PhD student in public health, I'm fully aware of some of these concerns.

Please continue to use your good work to benefit the people of Jamaica.

Thanks,

Roy Virgin
