Fashion for a cause
The Blossom O'Meally-Nelson Foundation will host a fund-raiser under the patronage of Her Excellency Lady Hall on Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Alhambra Inn, under the theme 'an evening of fun, friendship and fashion'. The fashion show will feature fabulous clothing by well-known New York-based Jamaican fashionista Peggy McLean.
The foundation is a not-for- profit organisation registered in 2009 to broker opportunities for the personal development and training of adolescents and young adults who have limited access to economic opportunities. It focuses on enabling individuals to access existing programmes, as well as designing and implementing projects and programmes as the opportunities arise.
The foundation currently runs a major project, the GameChangers Programme, which provides group and individual counselling for parents, adolescents and young adults from troubled families, and works with them to develop their personal action plans for further training, securing jobs, establishing microbusinesses and to improve their personal relationships, thereby reducing violence in families and communities and ultimately to be better citizens.
Sunday's show offers a great entertainment package, including Maurice Henry, Andrew Lawrence, and Charmaine Lemonious.
Tickets can be bought at Jencare Skin Farm, Hope Road, or by calling 620-4700.
