Fashion on parade at Reggae Awards
If sizzling outfits were economic indicators, there were no visible signs of an American recession at the Rhum Barbancourt-sponsored Linkage Radio Reggae Awards in Mount Vernon in New York last Sunday night.
Hundreds of reggae lovers, fashionistas, business leaders, tastemakers and politicians showed up at the sold-out Macedonia Center for this third annual event to celebrate milestones in reggae and radio.
The fashion styles ranged from classy casual to glamorous Grammy-style glitz. Couture designer creations were the preferred route, and Caribbean designers in New York such as Gold Teeth Fashion Village, Downtown Pat Brown, Flaco and Morvia Reid-Williams worked overtime to deliver their finest raiment for the reggae kings and queens.
